ITBP beat CCSC 3-0 to register first win

ITANAGAR, Aug 06: Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force jawans displayed some excellent teamwork to register their first win in the fourth edition of the Eagle Trophy Invitational Tournament defeating Capital Complex Sporting Club (CCSC) at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun, today.

There was much hype surrounding the match and CCSC were hoping for a win as it would have almost guaranteed their place in the next stages of the tournament. The co-ordinated efforts of the men in uniform, however, thwarted their plans. With age and experience behind them and perhaps to overcome their first defeat, the ITBPF team started things on an aggressive note with some early attempts at goal. Their efforts paid dividends 8th minute into the match when PN Kumar put one past the CCSC goalkeeper after some great display of his dribbling skills.

Much of the first half was dominated by the ITBPF team as they held the lion’s share of possession. CCSC tried desperately looking for the equalizer before the break. But neither team managed to make any changes to the score line.

When play resumed, the ITBPF team came on more determined than ever to ensure a win. CCSC on the other hand looked out of form, lacking in co-ordination as bad defending gave several scary moments to their supporters. It wouldn’t be too long before ITBPF took advantage of the lacklustre defending when one of their players crossed the ball into the box beating the CCSC goalkeeper and finding Kumar again. This time Kumar had an even easier chance than before by simply tapping the ball into the net in the 38th minute of the match making the score 2-0.

CCSC should have closed the gap soon but Tamuk Taja was unable to hit the target after he found himself free and in an advantageous position. The young lads from the Capital Complex team forged ahead with determination with players putting in all efforts to narrow the margin. Tadar Kojum in a moment of brilliance dribbled past several defenders and would have produced a golden opportunity had he not been brought down in front of the box. The resulting free-kick however, did not yield the desired result.

Just as quickly as the free-kick was wasted, the CCSC goalkeeper found himself under pressure and made a terrible goalkeeping blunder which almost cost his team heavily.

Nevertheless, CCSC pushed ahead looking for a goal. Paney Kuna should have converted a good chance when he found himself in a good position but was unfortunately not able to do so.

CCSC’s nightmares were not over yet as in a brilliant display of teamwork, the ITBPF jawans weaved a myriad net of passes for Gumli Riba to put in left-footed goal making the score 3-0 until the end of the match.

Several chances came CCSC’s way but lack of age and experience acted against their favour. The loss means that the team will have its work cut out in their match against Gora Makik SC on August 9.

Earlier, in the first match played between Gora Makik Sporting Club and Jiye aur Jenedo Football Club, the audience were treated to a brilliantly fought even match.

A cleverly taken free-kick in the initial stages of the match almost gave GMSC the lead had it not been for JJFC goalkeeper’s presence of mind.

The team again had a chance to take the lead in the match but Ligang Boko took too long to settle in and find his footing before taking the shot. By the team the shot was taken, JJFC defenders had already closed in on him.

JJFC players were not content merely defending and launched a series of attacks, although never seriously threatening the GMSC goalkeeper.

After a long spell of defence, GMSC managed to launch a counter-attack coming extremely close to scoring the first goal of the match when the ball hit the far post of the goal with the keeper completely beaten. The first-half ended goalless.

It didn’t take long after play resumed for GMSC to take the lead when an early corner-kick awarded to them rendered fruitful. Loi Kena crossed the ball in to find Tapan Bora who managed to give his team the lead.

The goal seemed to have a rejuvenating effect on Bora as he seemed infused with new energy and vigour, forging ahead on several occasions. He should have extended the lead but managed to squander away an easy chance.

JJFC were giving up yet as they looked for an equaliser. Their relentless efforts gave them a fighting chance when the referee awarded them a free-kick in an advantageous position. It was heartbreak for JJFC fans when a brilliantly taken free-kick was saved by an even better display of goalkeeping by the GMSC keeper.

Bora came close to scoring another goal for himself and his team in the dying minutes of the game but the match would eventually end with the score at 1-0 to GMSC.

Tomorrow’s matches will begin earlier than usual with Daporijo FC set to take on Trah United Sporting Club at 12.30 pm. The second match between Model Sporting Club and Tatung Welfare Society will be played at 2 pm.

Invest in green agrochemicals

The Indian Government has called upon agrochemicals industry to invest in Research & Development and innovations in agrochemicals sector. In order to remain globally competitive, the industry needs to innovate in products, for which innovative state-of-the-art R&D laboratories and financial resources would be required, said Indrajit Pal, Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Union Ministry of Chemicals  and  Fertilizers.

Indrajit Pal said that the Indian chemical sector spends 1-2% of their total turnover on R&D as compared to around 5-10% by the chemical industry in the developed countries. One of the emerging areas for R & D is green agrochemicals and the Indian industry is the development of eco-friendly green agrochemicals, he added. "For ensuring quality of agrochemicals, the Government has set up 71 pesticides testing laboratories across the country that include 68 state laboratories, 2 regional laboratories and 1 central laboratory. Manufacturing units should adopt GMP (good manufacturing practices) and take all such measures that are necessary to ensure delivery of quality products to the farmers.

With nearly a 1.2 billion population, India requires a robust, modernized agriculture sector to ensure the food security for its population. Scope for further increasing cultivable land is limited. In order to meet the food grain requirements of the country, the agricultural productivity and its growth needs to be sustained and further improved.

Pesticides or Agrochemicals are recognized as an essential input for increasing agricultural production and preventing crop loss before and after harvesting. Their judicious usage is very important for the sustained growth of Indian agriculture and economy.

Confine stray animals, avert accident

Dear Editor,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I, on behalf of All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Forum East Siang District Unit (AAPYFESDU) would like to draw the attention of East Siang district administration and general people towards the problems being created by stray animals roaming freely in Pasighat area.

The assurance given by deputy commissioner to bring a solution to stray animal problem has not been materialized yet.  Why the authorities are failing many a times in implementing the notification to bringing a solution of cattle loitering and roaming freely in NH-52 Pasighatarea?

For information to all as an eye opener,  I would like to mention here that few days back an accident took place near the D.C. Bungalow in the evening only because of a herd of cow  where the victim  sustained severe injuries who was later rushed to the hospital.

Even after the repeated occurrence of minor and major life threatening accidents which happen many a times especially in the highway area, the administration is not at all showing interests to bring up a solution to it.

The AAPYFESDU would like to request the East Siang District administration to open their eyes and bring an immediate solution to it so  that road accidents caused  in highway due to loitering stray animal can be prevented. Anticipating quick action.

Yours’

Vice President

Heny Koyu,

AAPYFESDU

Don’t ignore us

Dear Editor,

Through the column of your esteemed daily kindly allow me to express my concern over the lack of subject teachers in Govt. Higher Secondary School Nyapin under Kurung Kumey District. Let me tell you all that Govt. Higher Secondary School Nyapin is one of the oldest and lone higher secondary School under 19th Nyapin Assembly Constituency. Every students of nearby villages come to study in the said school hoping that this school will offer them better teaching and knowledge. No doubt school gives good quality teaching but it is being neglected by the concern education department. It really doesn’t matter if there is inadequate power supply or improper communication system. But when it comes to lack of subject teachers it becomes matter of concern and agony. The concern education department has never paid interest to this school from 3 or 4 years back onward. Since from then there is lack of subject teachers of geography, political science, economic and commerce. Yet there is no posting of J/T or S/T teachers of above mention particular subject. Every year students from GHSS Nyapin get pass with poor percentage and they have to face problems at the time of admission in different colleges, (this problem is not only for Nyapin students but for entire Kurung Kumey Students).

So last but not the least I would like to appeal local MLA, Public Leaders and student Union to stress on these highlighted issues. I also appeal concern education department authorities please don't hate Nyapin peopie and students of Nyapin are not too bad as you all may be assuming.

Yours,

Tadar Kaming

How safe is women in Arunachal?

Dear Editor,

Today when we see crime against women taking place all over India in alarming rate many thoughts come to the mind, thinking how safe is capital complex for women. Often we wonder how law enforcing agencies and judiciary has repeatedly failed to give justice. The very thought about women safety got me thinking about how safe is our very own Arunachal when it comes to women’s safety.

Few months an incident took place in Delhi where 5-years old were raped. The DAMINI gang rape not only shook the whole nation but received attention from world media.

Recently few months ago at Daporijo a minor old girl was raped and in our capital a lot of girl has written about the eve-teasing incident. Being silent on matters like this is not an option and yes, eve- teasing is a crime, euphemism that many girls had faced. I interacted with girls from different phases of life and most of them agreed saying that “they did face eve-teasing a couple of times in capital but believe that still its better place than Delhi and other States." Some opined that "even if there is a case of molestation or assault it will go unreported”. Yes! Comparatively Itanagar is safer city than Delhi, Mumbai and other cities but should we as a citizen and concern authorities have laid back attitude just because in the state crime rate against women is low. Do the female populations of Arunachal really understand the concept of crimes against women? Has the authority reached out to the women in need? Maybe it’s a good sign that there is a hue and cry but that shouldn’t stop us from having a second thought on women safety. Maybe there is a victim out there looking for help or a young girl who does not understand what molestation is or sexual harassment? How she is to be educated about it or who to report in a situation like this, are the important issue that has to be addressed? People feel reluctant to confess the truth, victim feels embarrassed, they think that people might laugh at her, talk ridiculous about her and her family, society may disowned her.

Eve-teasing is the most common sexual delinquency among youth in our capital. Teenage girls going for walk at IG Park or taking a stroll at Gompa Temple where the hooligans are found making sexually suggestive remarks and calling out names are becoming serious issue for girls. Now tempo stands has emerged as “the new depot" where outright grouping incidents occurs and girls passing by those stands (especially Ganga and Naharlagun auto stands) are being catcalled which is a big nuisance. Majority of these incidents goes unreported. Why? Because society says ignoring them is the answer, but for how long should we remain quite or should we wait for exceptional cases to regulate a strong laws to protect the female population of our State? Today it started with eve-teasing and tomorrow it might lead to bigger assaults on women. Society always blames the victim but never the assaulter or the perpetrator. It’s high time that society should change their mentality. If the officials do not take precaution action against those boys’ who eve-teases the teenage girl, it will embolden those criminals. Unless the Govt, regulates a strong law against perpetrators, incidents like eve-teasing and assault will continue.

Kame Kipa

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily I would like to appeal Director of School Education, DDSE and local MLA to post sufficient regular Junior Teacher at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Baririjo, Maro, Govt. M.E. School Dula Runte and Riko primary school.

Many primary schools under Baririjo Circle especially Riko Primary School are running without proper teacher for the last 3 years. Similarly Runte ME School is also functioning with only one SSA Teacher. Baririjo Primary Health Center has not seen any doctor in last 4 years. The local people are facing lot of difficult especially those hailing from poor family due to shortage of doctor and staff Nurse. I earnestly request higher authority to seriously look into this matter.
